Sometimes beautiful special occasion clothing pieces are just too cherished to not be used again. I recreated for my granddaughter, Annie Frances' christening, this one of a kind gown I made from the dress that her mother wore when presented in The Cotillion. As you will see from the before picture of my daughter, we re-incorporated the elegant pintucked and lace shaped skirt of the silk batiste dress to make the skirt of the christening gown. Shaped lace insertions, ruffled lace edgings and embroidery were salvaged and re-designed to make the bodice and sleeves of a gown that would have a special meaning to both mother and daughter.

There is no substitution for simple elegance and this ivory silk dupioni christening gown is truly that. The flowing gown has three wide lace fancy bands that anchor the skirt. The simple bodice is accented by a beautiful detachable embroidered bib. The bib, sleeves and hem of the skirt are all embellished with elegant hand embroidery designs that incorporate the babies' initials within cross motifs intertwined with ribbons and flowers. Created with the finest Swiss batiste fabric and beautiful French lace insertions and edgings that are accented with little lace crosses, this little lad's christening outfit will be truly elegant but simply stated for that special day. A pintucked and lace band anchors the front of the gown and is intersected by a matching fancy band on the mid-hem of the skirt. This pintuck and lace technique accents the straight three quarter length sleeves as well. The detachable bib is hand embroidered with the child's initials intertwined over a lovely embroidered cross motif that is circled by a shadow worked ribbon border. This gown exemplifies the height of elegance with bands and bands of ecru lace, silk ribbons and elegant white Swiss batiste fabrics. The high yoke dress is accented with a beautiful tucked and lace bodice that is centered with a hand embroidered cross. Wide lace insertion is shaped at the bottom of the yoke to accent the top of the gathered skirt. The 54 inch skirt is extraordinary featuring two wide fancy bands of ecru laces and silk ribbons flanking a wide band of pintucking. The gathered 8 inch ruffle feature four pintucks and a wide lace edging to finish the bottom of this skirt. The short gathered sleeves are finished with a lace band including lace beading and silk ribbons.
This gown has a matching bonnet of wide lace insertion border on the brim and a Swiss batiste pintucked crown. The bonnet is accented with hand embroidered feather stitching bands. This sweet little hat is an elegant accent to this beautiful christening gown ensemble.

Your special couture christening gown is to be cherished and saved for generations. The gown should be cleaned after wearing and wrapped and stored in acid free paper and acid free box. To transport that special creation to and from the christening ceremony, we have created a christening gown garment bag that can be monogrammed with the child's initials. An accent pocket is included on the bag to store special jewelry, handkerchief or a bonnet in.
Garment bag is an additional fee of $75.00. A special slip to wear under that elegant christening gown is an added feature which can also be a cherished memento for your child's christening. Slips are made of Swiss batiste and include monogramming of the child's name or initials, baptismal date and a favorite bible verse. This slip may be personalized for additional family members who will wear the dress and slip for future christenings.
